The Montana Network for Biomedical Research Opportunities offers faculty, undergraduate and graduate students throughout Montana enhanced research opportunities in the biomedical sciences. Some work may be in Missoula, some not.
BOREALIS (“Balloon Outreach, Research, Exploration, and Land Imaging System”) is the Montana Space Grant Consortium’s ( MSGC) High Altitude Balloon Program. The goal of the BOREALIS project is to increase student exposure to the design requirements of space hardware and to provide a platform on which students can fly their designs in engineering and science, among others. The BOREALIS team is composed primarily of students pursuing degrees in engineering and physics at MSU. Research faculty at MSU mentor these students in the operation and management of the program. Students currently hold all of the team lead positions and many of the director positions within the project. A list of research opportunities offered off campus through the National Science Foundation (NSF). NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program. An REU Site consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he/she works closely with the faculty and other researchers. Students are granted stipends and, in many cases, assistance with housing and travel. Undergraduate students supported with NSF funds must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions. An REU Site may be at either a US or foreign location.Variety of information and links related to undergraduate research in chemistry.
NASA offers research opportunities for undergraduates interested in planetary geology and geophysics.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is sponsoring the NASA Undergraduate Student Research Program (NASA-USRP), offering undergraduates across the United States mentored research experiences at the NASA Centers.
