Agency Resources
The OCE serves as a liaison to community agencies, assisting them to access university resources and in turn to meet community needs, accomplish organizational missions and engage in professional development.
This April, the OCE was thankful for the opportunity to host author and director of DC Central Kitchen, Robert Egger, at the University of Montana, the city of Missoula, and at various engagements throughout Western Montana. Through collaboration with ALPS, the MNN, and the Montana Campus Compact, Mr. Egger visited with a variety of different groups - from nonprofit directors to students to AmeriCorps members - to present on his experiences.
The OCE partners to bring in experienced presenters and speakers throughout the academic year - contact us for any future events!
Other university resources for community engagement include:
Web-based volunteer recruitment
The OCE provides agencies with assistance in using The University of Montana’s Student Employment website. This is a volunteer recruitment tool on which Agencies can post work and volunteer opportunities online for student viewing. Click here to access the site, and here for instructions.
Volunteer Fairs
The Office for Civic Engagement organizes a Volunteer Fair every semester in order to help non-profit agencies in Missoula to promote their services and help students find the volunteer opportunities they have been searching for. The Volunteer Fair is an excellent opportunity for potential volunteers to find service opportunities.
Nonprofit Leadership Alliance
Many UM students participate in the Nonprofit Leadership Student Association, Minor in Nonprofit Administration program and serve a 300-hour internship at community organizations as part of their program requirements. Learn more about the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance internship and how your agency can become involved.
Online Program in Nonprofit Administration
The OCE and UMOnline offer five six-week online classes as part of the Online Program in Nonprofit Administration. Course offerings include Grantwriting, Fundraising, Financial Management, and more.
Campus Corps Non-Stipended Program
The Campus Corps Non-Stipended (CCNS) Program is an AmeriCorps program that helps community agencies meet direct service needs. CCNS members serve 300 or 450 hour terms over the course of one year at an organization. If your non-profit agency is interested in hosting a Campus Corps Non-Stipended member for the 2010-2011 academic year, please register online To see a list of Frequently Asked Questions, click here.
