- Service Learning Liaison (450 hours): Will assist departments and/or specific faculty to build their capacity to offer effective academic service learning experiences that enhance student learning and benefit the community. The primary duties of this position include assisting faculty and/or departments, students, and community agencies in developing and implementing curricular service-learning opportunities (coordinate/facilitate bi-weekly meetings and skill trainings), working with community organizations, programs, and individuals to identify appropriate service learning placement opportunities which will help students attain course learning objectives, etc. This position provides a living stipend of $3,018 and an education award of $1,250 after successful completion of service.
- Volunteer and Events Coordinator (450 hours): Will create, develop, and implement service opportunities for higher education students and provide support in the areas of general office operations. The primary duties of this position include developing and coordinating monthly volunteer events (including national service days like MLK day, MADD, NYSD), recruiting volunteers, soliciting donations, sending weekly emails with volunteer opportunities, and maintaining non-profit database. Other duties include conducting campus outreach, PR, and marketing activities related to volunteer events, aiding in the coordination of the CCNS program including member recruitment, orientation training, and other ongoing support activities, etc. This position provides a living stipend of $3,018 and an education award of $1,250 after successful completion of service.
- Alternative Breaks Coordinator (300 hours/work study): Will coordinate and implement student trips over UM school breaks to perform service in other communities. The primary duties of this position include developing and coordinating logistics for Winter and Spring Break Trips, identifying national community service project partners, recruiting, training, and overseeing two site leaders for each trip, recruiting and placing trip members to fill each trip, preparing and overseeing budgets for all trips, providing post-trip follow-up and evaluation for each trip, etc. This position provides an education award of $1,000 after successful completion of service.
- Missoula Children’s Theater (450 hours) – Primary duties include: Campus Corps member will coordinate all aspects of the Campus Corps Service Learning members’ activity conducted through the Missoula Children’s Theater. They will assist with orientation and training as well as volunteer recruitment for MCT activities associated with AmeriCorps. Campus Corps member will assist with other activities associated with managing and maintaining Human Resources as it pertains to MCT and AmeriCorps members. The Campus Corps member may be asked to clarify MCT’s CCNS activity through the Marketing and Division act of MCT. Time frame: 12-15 hrs/week, M-F mostly, September-May. Salary: $3,018/year stipend plus $1,250 Education Award after successful completion of service.
- YMCA After School Program Coordinator (450 hours) – Plan activities, field trips, and guest speakers for the YMCA After School Club. Actively recruit volunteers to teach projects, give presentations or performances, and tutor After School participants. Coordinate, train, and supervise volunteers. Create and maintain monthly calendar and parent information letter. Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service training programs to meet additional educational requirements established by the State of Montana. Time frame: 12-15 hrs/week, M-F mostly, September-May. Salary: $3,018/year stipend plus $1,250 Education Award after successful completion of service.
- SpectrUM (450 hours, 1 academic year and 1 summer 2010) - Campus corps member will spend time in the spectrUM Discovery Area engaging in fun, hands-on science programming for children and families Member will be asked to help collect and record science program participant data for spectrUM Discovery Area. This includes after school science programming, special offerings such as workshops and camps, special events, K-12 outreach education programs in Missoula and around the state of Montana. Member will be responsible for maintaining volunteer database, keeping contact with spectrUM’s current community volunteers, recruiting new community volunteers and organizing appropriate community partnerships. Member will be traveling as available in and around Missoula and Montana to assist with K-12 outreach programming. Duties will include organizing community volunteers needed to carry out outreach programs, helping with outreach operations, helping engage students and families in rural and tribal settings around the joys of science learning, and gathering community outreach data. Time frame: 12-15 hrs/week, M-F mostly, September-May. Salary: $3,018/year stipend plus $1,250 Education Award after successful completion of service.
- Families First/Children’s Museum (450 hours) – Member will communicate with local elementary school teachers and day care providers to develop ideas for traveling Children’s Museum programs and exhibits to other kid-friendly places in and around Missoula. Member will assess what a year of off-site programming might look like, and what it would cost to provide this service. Member will increase special programs offered through collaboration with other area organizations and work with appropriate departments at UM to recruit students interested in facilitating afterschool programs for kids ages 4-7 in the areas of art, health and wellness and science. Member will also develop more scholarship opportunities for increased accessibility to our programs to all families. Time frame: 12-15 hrs/week, M-F mostly, September-May. Salary: $3,018/year stipend plus $1,250 Education Award after successful completion of service.
- Events Coordinator with Entertainment Management (450 hours) - Member will communicate with local non-profit organizations to identify appropriate and needed community awareness and education events. Will develop and implement events, work with non-profit organizations to develop pre- and post-event assessment tools, coordinate volunteers for events, coordinate and develop public relations and marketing materials, develop and manage budgets for events, and develop a How-To Manual for future UMEM reference. Time frame: 12-15 hrs/week, M-F mostly, September-May. Salary: $3,018/year stipend plus $1,250 Education Award after successful completion of service.
- Watershed Education Network Field Assistant (450 hours) – Primary duties include: Campus Corps field assistant will support the WEN staff through the fall and spring field trips in the Missoula area, Bitterroot Valley and Swan schools, providing field trip support to approximately 22 school groups as a service to our community. Campus Corps field assistant will work closely with elementary and middle school children and will learn skills and strategies to work with students in the field. Opportunities to learn classroom presentation skills in water ecology will be available for Campus Corps field assistant to accompany WEN staff to the pre- and post- field trip class visits Campus Corps field assistant will take a leadership role on volunteer water monitoring field trips to guide volunteers through the field trip goals as well as the safety of all involved. Campus Corps field assistant will actively evaluate the water monitoring program, assist with report writing and provide feedback to the WEN staff. Time frame: 12-15 hrs/week, M-F mostly, September-May. Salary: $3,018/year stipend plus $1,250 Education Award after successful completion of service.
