Executive Positions for Credit
As proposed by the DHC Student Advisory Board
This proposal is being voted on at the next HSA meeting on Tuesday, May 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the DHC Lounge. Should the HSA accept this proposal, the executive positions for credit will be put into place starting Fall 2005. Any student who chooses to run for these positions may do so. The students who are elected must then add their position to their schedule through a formal add slip signed by Dean Bach. The class will be listed as HC 395.
Three Executive Positions will be offered for credit:
President : 2 credits / academic year
The President's job is to:
Represent the HSA in any formal setting
Call and lead meetings
Maintain correspondence and continued connections
Delegate responsibilities to other HSA members
Keep the HSA and their planned events running smoothly
Work with the Business Manager in budgeting and lobbying - must be present at lobbying
Meet weekly with the Business Manager and Program Coordinator to maintain communication
Sit in on DHC Student Advisory Board meetings as a liaison between the two groups to keep communication and paths of assistance open
This would be a full academic year position, as certain correspondences and connections need to be developed, making it difficult to switch mid-year.
Business Manager : 1 credit / semester
The Business Manager's job is to:
Take minutes at every meeting
Keep all records
Manage the treasury
Oversee fundraising (during Fall Ball, manage ticket sales and determine budget for décor and refreshments; come up with new ideas for fundraisers to decrease dependence on ASUM funds)
Oversee promotion
Make posters/flyers/signs/etc. publicizing events
Contact Dean Bach with any HSA announcements or upcoming events to be included in the weekly DHC Newsletter e-mail
Contact the Kaimin or other media for bigger events, such as Fall Ball or the VIP Reception
Work with the President in budgeting and lobbying - must be present at lobbying
Meet weekly with the President and Program Coordinator
Sit in on DHC Student Advisory Board meetings when appropriate (either called upon by the SAB or when proposing a special request)
This would be a one semester commitment to allow more people an opportunity to serve in this role. However, should someone wish to re-run for the semester after their term, they may do so.
Program Coordinator : 1 credit / semester
The Program Coordinator's job is to:
- Coordinate at least one monthly event in each of the following areas:

- Sit in on DHC Student Advisory Board meetings when appropriate (either called upon by the SAB or when proposing a special request)
This would be a one semester commitment, but students could also run again if they wish to to do so.
